The only one of its kind in Europe
The Coffee Science Centre is one of a kind in Europe. It was born in the heart of the Alentejo, in the town of Campo Maior, which is considered the capital of coffee.
See, Touch, Do and Learn all blend in with the aroma of coffee roasting, awakening new ways of learning for people of all ages.
An interactive space that is informative, educational, cultural and scientific; where visitors can find answers to their questions about coffee and interact with the equipment and exhibitions. The museum was designed and created to promote Portugal’s cultural heritage and its coffee-related patrimony.
SCIENCE, EDUCATION AND MEMORY
In the Coffee Science Centre, scientific heritage and cultural heritage are presented as new challenges in the areas of tourism and education. It is a challenge to present science as heritage, promote it and involve communities and territories. In this sense, the work of the Coffee Science Centre also involves the development of knowledge, promoting science and educating the visiting public. We are not just guardians of this heritage: we are a space for supporting the educational activities of schools and families, as well as a space for leisure, experimentation and fun.
NOW THE COFFEE INVITES YOU
At the Coffee Science Centre you will get the chance to sign up for one of our coffee tastings where we will reveal some of the basic sensory techniques for evaluating coffee, preparing drinks and latte art so that you can surprise your family and friends while also becoming a more informed coffee consumer.
We will be opening the Coffee Science Centre Barista Academy in the near future to offer training and workshops for professionals in the field, coffee lovers and the merely curious.
HISTORY IS OUR HERITAGE
At the Coffee Science Centre we give life to the heritage – tangible and intangible, intellectual and physical – that Delta Cafés has accrued over more than 5 decades in the business. That is more than 50 years of history in the coffee industry and trade.
To this heritage we add our strategic partnerships with a number of scientific and cultural bodies, which enhance the visitor experience.
